"Eve" has been refurbished specifically for people bringing their dogs on holiday. Norfolk is a fantastic place to visit and perfect for dogs. The beach is a firm favourite with our dogs, and if the beach is empty - which it very often is - we let them off their leads at the top of the slope down to the beach and they hurtle down at 100 miles an hour to get to the sand. The beach connects with Hemsby beach about a mile away and Caister a mile in the other direction and forms part of the Norfolk Coastal Path.
Of course, if you don't have dogs you are still very welcome!!
The property has solid floors throughout with rugs and leather sofas which we feel is best where pets are concerned as they can be cleaned thoroughly. There are throws for the sofas and plenty of cushions.
The layout is as follows:
Off-road parking for one car in the driveway outside the garage doors. Gate into front garden with patio area leads to front door where the key-safe is situated. The front door leads into the kitchen with the utility room to the left - this is a garage conversion, and contains a washing machine, tumble dryer, large extra fridge-freezer and has a second sink. We store the comfy garden chairs here. The kitchen is a good size with two windows overlooking the front patio area. A tall fridge freezer should house a weeks shopping to save you going out again and able to relax for your holiday. Plenty of cupboard space, a dishwasher, microwave, ceramic hob and cooker and duck-egg blue crockery. There is a George Foreman grill and a slow-cooker, a sandwich toastie maker, electric carving knife. If there is anything you think we need to get - please let me know!!!!! One guests asked for scales as she wanted to bake, so we got them.
The living area follows and is open-plan with a dining table/chairs, solid fuel log-burner and small sofa leading to a wider area with windows to two sides. A lovely raspberry-red leather six seater sofa runs along one wall opposite the 42 inch smart TV (connected to a DVD player with dozens of DVDs of all sorts in a unit), with a coffee table, a smaller sofa and a fabric chair. Various table-lamps are dotted about the living area and cushions/throws galore. The coffee table is a Nathan as are all the units, which I like to collect and tinker with, so I have put coasters everywhere to try to prevent the lovely Danish teak being damaged. There is a vintage electric fire and oil heaters. The conservatory leads from the lounge and has a small sofa, chairs and a coffee table, perfect for an after dinner Monopoly match or quiet game of cards. The lounge and conservatory have patio doors out to the garden.
The bedrooms have little steps down into bathrooms. One bedroom has a king sized bed, the other has twin beds. Both have 32 inch smart tvs and various clothes storage spaces and table lamps/rugs/cushions etc. The king bathroom has a large-ish walk in shower, toilet and basin, the twin has a bath with overhead power-shower, toilet and basin. Please note the airing cupboard (and boiler) is in the twin bathroom, spare towels etc and any extra toilet rolls needed etc may be found here, and there is a first aid kit. We provide 2 towels per guest but ask that guests please bring doggy towels with them.
Eve has oil fired central heating with radiators and is very cosy. It has been re-insulated throughout with good quality double glazing as it faces the North Sea and the wind whips across when it chooses to.
Outside, there is a sunny patio at the front; the rear garden is lawned and has a gate leading out to the field at the back. The field is privately owned although it can be used respectfully and as a pathway to the road to the beach.
Very important to note is that the field edge has a sheer drop of 60m down to the beach, which is unfenced due to erosion issues. When you arrive at Eve, we recommend that you have a walk to the edge so that you are aware, and please keep dogs and children safe and ensure the gate is securely latched at all times. This area used to have steps down to the beach but sadly the coastal erosion swept them away some years ago. The beach now has a good defence system and no further serious erosion has taken place along this area of the coast for some time. The beach is accessed via a pathway just behind the California Tavern, or down the steps at the top of Rottenstone Lane by the public toilets. Both routes to the beach are by way of steps and are not suitable for wheelchair users.
