About Us

Welcome….to 'Dawn'  and 'Eve', our holiday bungalows by the sea on the south-east coast of Norfolk.

Away from main roads along un-made up lanes there is no traffic noise here, only the sound of the sea and the array of beautiful garden birds we attract. With sea views you can watch the sun rise over the sea. We have thought of every comfort for a relaxing holiday, really comfortable beds, beautifully decorated bedrooms, several sofas/throws, a dishwasher and laundry equipment; wifi, a logburner, a selection of board games/dvds; sunloungers, bbq etc.

Both bungalows provide a perfectly peaceful getaway to enjoy with family at any time of year

The properties have solid floors throughout with rugs and leather sofas which we feel is best where pets are concerned as they can be cleaned thoroughly. There are cushions and throws galore.

Both have off-road parking for one car, a second car can be tucked in tightly along the fence as the lanes are quite narrow.

Outside, there are lawned areas and patios with tables, comfy chairs and a parasol for summer.  The gardens are fully fenced/gated for pet-security.

The kitchens are well equipped with a tall fridge-freezer, pretty duck egg crockery and everything you might need for a holiday in any season.  Smart tvs (and plenty of storage space) in both bedrooms and the lounge.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Eve has four sofas, Dawn has three and both have several armchairs, so there is plenty of seating to choose from, with throws and cushions to snuggle into.  Both bungalows have powerful multi-fuel logburners plus full central heating, unlimited wifi with smart tvs in both bedrooms and lounge, cosy conservatory ideal for chilling with a board game after dinner - we have a vast selection of these! A dvd player with numerous dvds and a DAB radio are also in the lounge area.

Eve has an open-plan living area with a dining table/chairs, solid fuel log-burner and small sofa leading to a wider area with windows to two sides. A lovely raspberry-red leather six seater sofa runs along one wall with a coffee table, a smaller sofa and a fabric chair.  Various table-lamps are dotted about the living area.  The coffee table is a Nathan as are all the units, which I like to collect and tinker with, so I have put coasters everywhere to try to prevent the lovely Danish teak being damaged.

There is a vintage electric fire and oil radiators  The conservatory leads from the lounge and has a small sofa, chair and a coffee table, perfect for an after dinner Monopoly match or quiet game of cards.  The lounge and conservatory have patio doors out to the garden.  The bedrooms have little steps down into bathrooms. One bedroom has a king sized bed, the other has twin beds.  The king bathroom has a large-ish walk in shower, toilet and basin, the twin has a bath with overhead power-shower, toilet and basin.  Eve has a utility room with spare tall fridge-freezer and spare sink in addition to the kitchen, washing machine/dryer. We supply tea, coffee, sugar, various fruit teas, and there are is a selection of salt/pepper/oil/herbs etc. Cleaning items/vacuum cleaner, dishwasher tabs and tea-towels are supplied.

Dawn has a cosy dining room between the lounge and conservatory; the bedrooms sleep four (double/twin) but two small cube beds are kept at the property and can be put down for small children if the party exceeds 4 - this needs to be arranged in advance please. Again, smart tvs in both bedrooms and the lounge has a 50 inch tv above the logburner. A selection of books, games and dvds are kept in the dresser. Dawn has one bathroom with a bath/power-shower and is newly refurbished with beige tiles and Bathstore fittings. The lovely oak kitchen with tall fridge-freezer and built in dishwasher is well-equipped and there is a laundry room.  Towels, hand-wash and toilet roll are supplied, but we ask that you bring doggie-towels to dry pets after their beach walk please.

Dawn is located on the Winterton/Hemsby border, a few minutes walk to the peaceful Winterton valley and sand dunes, with the sea beyond. Long Beach is privately owned and is dog-friendly all year round, apart from school holidays it is very often deserted.  The bungalow is a haven for people seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of life - you will wake up to hear only sea-birds and maybe the sea crashing on the beach - as Dawn is a good mile away from any main roads and is along a dead-end lane.  There is a local shop open all year round 100 yards from Dawn, and The Dolphin Bar pub serving delicious meals and with evening entertainment (open March-Nov) is next to the shop. Hemsby village is a 15 min walk, where there are amusements all year round, and dog-friendly pubs/cafes. You will be able to buy rock, candy-floss and all the 'Kiss-me-quick' seaside bits and pieces.Winterton is around 30 minutes walk and has a dog-friendly cafe on the dunes, a nature reserve with an array of wild birds and The Fisherman's Return pub, renowned for excellent food.

Eve has oil fired central heating with radiators and is very cosy. Dawn has electric heating with eco-boost switches.  The bungalows have been re-insulated throughout with good quality double glazing as the North Sea wind whips across when it chooses to. There are additional oil-filled radiators in case of severe/extreme weather conditions.

Outside Eve's back garden is a privately owned playing field, it can be used respectfully for dog-exercising and low-key ball games and has a pathway to the road to the beach. Very important to note is that beyond the gate, there is a field with a sheer drop edge  of some 60 feet down to the beach which is unfenced due to erosion issues. When you arrive at Eve, we recommend that you have a walk to the edge so that you are aware, and please keep dogs and children safe.  We have put a padlock on the gate for safety.  The beach is accessed along a pathway next to the California Tavern or via a ramp in Rottenstone Lane, a short walk away.

The bungalows have been refurbished specifically for people bringing their dogs on holiday - Norfolk is a fantastic place to visit and is perfect for dogs.  The beach is a firm favourite and is very often empty. The beach at Eve (Scratby beach) connects to Hemsby beach one way and Caister beach in the other.  Dawn's beach (Long Beach) is between Winterton and Hemsby beach.  Both are dog friendly all year round. The Norfolk Coastal Path runs alongside both properties.
